Alberta Transportation has retained Delcan Corporation to complete a planning study for Highway 53 through the Town of Rimbey.
You are invited to provide input on this study at an Open House on:

Public Notice To the Electors of the Town of Rimbey
Section 251 - the Municipal Government Act
TAKE NOTICE that the Council of the Town of Rimbey, in the Province of Alberta, has given first reading to Borrowing Bylaw No. 849/10 which will, upon final passage and approval; authorize the proper officers of the Town of Rimbey to borrow monies from the Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation (CMHC) by way of debenture issue, to pay for the cost of upgrading the water storage/distribution improvements within the limits of the Town of Rimbey;
The total cost of the aforesaid project amounts to $4,545,000.00. After deducting from this cost the amount of $3,030,000.00 to be received from the Canada Alberta Building Canada Fund, the net amount to be borrowed on the credit and security of the Town of Rimbey at large by the issue of debentures is $1,515,000.00 The debentures are to be repayable to the CMHC in thirty (30) equal consecutive semi-annual installments of combined principal and interest, the semi-annual interest not to exceed10% per centum (10%), or the interest rate as fixed from time to time by the Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation;
NOW THEREFORE NOTICE is hereby given by the Council of the Town of Rimbeythat, unless a petition of the electors for a vote on Bylaw No. 849/10 is demanded, as provided for by the terms of Section 231 of the Municipal Government Act, the said Council may pass the said borrowing bylaw.
All persons are hereby notified and they are required to govern themselves accordingly.

Information for Electors
Pursuant to Section 1(i) of the Municipal Government Act an "elector" means:
A person who is eligible to vote in the election for a councilor under the Local Authorities Election Act.
Pursuant to Section 47(1) of the Local Authorities Election Act a person is eligible to vote in an election if he:
A poll may be demanded in the Town of Rimbey by electors equal in number to at least 10% of the population. In accordance with the provisions of Section 223 and Section 251 of the Municipal Government Act.
The petition for a vote must be received by the Chief Administrative Officer within 15 days of the last publication of this notice and shall contain on each page "an accurate and identical statement of the purpose of the petition". (Further requirements of the petition are provided in Section 224 of the Municipal Government Act.)

RInC Funding - Rimbey Swimming Pool
The Town of Rimbey is proud to announce that we have been approved for $750,000 through the Government of Canada's Recreation Infrastructure Canada program, a major job-creating investment from Canada's Economic Action Plan. The funding will be used to replace the outdoor swimming pool in Rimbey, a project estimated at $2.25 Million.
2010 Business Licenses
Invoices for 2010 Business Licenses are now being processed.
Purchasing a Town of Rimbey Business License entitles your company to be listed in the business directory of the Town's website at www.rimbey.com. The website will be updated by March 31, 2010, listing only those businesses who have obtained a 2010 license.
Also, be advised that companies who solicit door-to-door sales are required to have a Town of Rimbey business license, and if they cannot provide this, you should request that they obtain the license prior to you purchasing their goods.

Council Meeting Change
The Town of Rimbey Council Meetings will now be held at 10:00 a.m. on the 2nd Tuesday of each month and at 5:00 p.m. on the 4th Tuesday of each month starting Oct. 27th.
Arena Advertising
The Town of Rimbey is looking for sponsors to advertise on the arena boards. The cost of sponsorship is $350/year + GST. For more information, please contact the Recreation Office at (403) 843-3151.
