three key responsibilities: Industry Growth - Facilitate new diversified product development. Rural Sustainability - Maintain/improve Alberta's air, water and soil for the well-being of current and future generations through essential policy, legislation, information and services. Safety Nets - Provides safety net funding to allow farmers the opportunity to adopt the most economically viable management practices for their area. To support it's mandate of industry growth, AFRD has a number of programs devoted to supporting new and established agriculture businesses. Many of these programs are geared towards helping new and established agri-food companies. |
